Ingredients

  • 4 qt. cucumbers
  • 1 c. mustard
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. pickling salt
  • 2 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • 1 gal. vinegar

Method

  • Wash and examine cucumbers.
  • If small, use the whole cucumber. If large, cut into strips.
  • Pack into glass jars.
  • Mix mustard, sugar, salt and spices together.
  • Add the vinegar slowly, stirring well.
  • Pour the brine over the pickles and seal.
  • Put in a cool, dark place.
  • After a week they are ready to eat and you don't have to heat the brine.
