Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground Italian sausage
  • 1/2 c. coarsely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. coarsely chopped green pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can whole tomatoes, drained and cut up
  • 1/4 c. catsup
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 4 French rolls (6 to 8-inch), split
  • 1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese

Method

  • In 1-quart casserole, combine sausage, onion and green pepper. Cover.
  • Microwave at High for 4 to 5 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink, stirring several times to break apart.
  • Drain.
  • Add tomatoes, catsup and Italian seasoning.
  • Microwave at High for 2 to 4 minutes, or until mixture is hot and flavors are blended, stirring once.
  • Set aside.
