Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 c. flour (cake flour)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 small Angel Flake coconut
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 5 stiffly beaten egg whites
Method
- Cream butter, shortening and sugar until smooth.
- Add egg yolks, one at a time.
- Add flour, soda and buttermilk alternately. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Bake in three 8-inch greased and floured pans at 350° for 25 minutes. Then cool and frost.
