Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. white cornmeal (self-rising)
- 3/4 c. plain flour
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 large onion, chopped fine
Method
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
- Place cornmeal and flour in bowl.
- Add buttermilk and stir until mixed thoroughly. Add beaten egg, onion and dissolved yeast mixture.
- Mix thoroughly and drop from teaspoon into deep hot oil.
- Cook until golden brown.
- Serve immediately.
- Yields 10 servings.
