Ingredients

  • 1 c. grits (quick cooking such as 5 minutes by Quaker or other brand)
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 oz. stick Kraft garlic cheese
  • 1 stick butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. milk

Method

  • Cook grits, water and salt in large heavy saucepan.
  • Cook on top of stove for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  • Remove from stove and stir in cheese and butter. Beat eggs into milk and add to grit mixture.
  • Buttered bread crumbs may be added on top if you care for them.
  • Bake about 45 minutes at 325°.
  • A deep dish is good for baking.
  • Jalapeno cheese can be used if you like the hot flavor instead of the garlic.
