Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 3 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 3/4 cups Shortening
- 1 cup Sugar, Plus More For Rolling Cookies
- 1 whole Egg, Slightly Beaten
- 1/4 cups Grandma's Molasses
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the flour, salt, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and baking soda together in a medium bowl. In a large bowl cream shortening, gradually adding the sugar. Mix in egg and molasses. Stir in the flour mixture gradually. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on a baking sheet, bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the baking sheet and cool on a wire rack.
