Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. butter
  • 3 sq. chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell

Method

  • Beat eggs until light, then beat in syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla. Melt butter and chocolate together, then cool and stir in. Pour in pie shell and bake at 325° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Top should be set, but filling should be somewhat soft inside.
  • Do not overbake.
  • Should be like custard.
  • May add pecans for a chocolate style pecan pie.
