Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. chopped dates
  • 1/2 lb. red and green cherries
  • 1/2 lb. pineapple
  • 4 c. pecans
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening or butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. warm water

Method

  • Chop dates, cherries, pineapple and pecans.
  • Dredge in a mixture of the next 5 ingredients.
  • Cream sugar and shortening or butter.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Add baking soda with warm water.
  • Add this to the mixture with fruit and flour mixture.
  • Stir well.
  • Drop by teaspoons on cookie sheet and bake at 375° until done.
