Ingredients
- 4 large firm green tomatoes
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour or cornmeal
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- shortening
Method
- Cut tomatoes in 1/4-inch slices.
- Mix flour or cornmeal with salt and pepper.
- Coat tomatoes with this mixture.
- Place in heavy skillet containing hot shortening.
- Fry slowly until brown, turning once.
- Do not burn.
