Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 lb. ground chop meat
  • 1/2 c. rice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. oil or shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. regular flour
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Cook rice in 1 1/2-quarts of water for 15 minutes; drain. Combine with meat and mix well.
  • Cook cabbage 5 or 10 minutes in large kettle.
  • In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, put oil, flour and the chopped onion; brown a little.
  • Fill cabbage leaves.
  • Add tomato sauce.
  • Cook under low heat for 30 to 35 minutes.
