Ingredients

  • 1 lb (.5 kg). lean steak mince
  • 2 small onions, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 oz (56 grm). unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp (5 ml). chopped chiles (according to taste)
  • 1 14 oz (392 grm). cooked red kidney beans
  • 1 14 oz (392 grm). chopped tomatoes
  • 1 14 oz (392 grm). haricot beans in sauce (baked beans)
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml). concentrated tomato puree
  • 1 tsp (5 ml). Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 beef stock cube

Method

  • Brown the mince in a very hot pan - drain fluid and set aside.
  • Saute onions in the butter with the garlic and chillis.
  • Once the onions are soft, add the mince and tomatoes.
  • Bring to a simmer and add the remaining ingredients (no additional fluid should be needed).
  • Cook at a simmer for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
