Ingredients
- 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. Crisco shortening
- 1/4 c. water
Method
- To make a flaky double crust: combine flour and salt in mixing bowl.
- Cut in Crisco with a pastry blender. Mixture should be fairly course.
- Sprinkle with water (a tablespoon a time) and mix lightly with a fork.
- When all water has been added, work dough into a firm ball.
- Divide dough into 2 parts and press each part into flat circles with smooth edges.
- On a lightly floured board, roll bottom crust into a circle 1/8 inch thick and 1 1/2 inches larger than a pie plate.
- Trim edge evenly with plate and add the apple filling.
- Wet rim of crust, then add the top crust and fold under the bottom crust.
- Bake 30-40 minutes at 400°.
