Ingredients
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 scant Tbsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast, in 1 c. warm water
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. or more meal
- flour (enough to make dough, about 6 c.)
Method
- Add sugar, shortening and salt to milk.
- Add yeast to warm water.
- Add yeast and eggs to milk when cool.
- Add meal and flour. Mix and knead until smooth.
- Oil lightly, cover and put in warm place to double in bulk.
- Knead again.
- Shape into loaves, about 3.
- Let double in bulk again.
- Cook at 375° for 35 to 45 minutes.
