Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 scant Tbsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast, in 1 c. warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. or more meal
  • flour (enough to make dough, about 6 c.)

Method

  • Add sugar, shortening and salt to milk.
  • Add yeast to warm water.
  • Add yeast and eggs to milk when cool.
  • Add meal and flour. Mix and knead until smooth.
  • Oil lightly, cover and put in warm place to double in bulk.
  • Knead again.
  • Shape into loaves, about 3.
  • Let double in bulk again.
  • Cook at 375° for 35 to 45 minutes.
