Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- dash of salt
- 2 c. milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- coconut (as desired in pie)
Method
- Combine sugar, flour and salt together.
- Add milk.
- Cool until warm.
- Add egg yolks and cook until thick.
- Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- When cool, pour into cooked, cooled pie crust.
- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Add 1 tablespoon sugar for each white.
- Bake in hot oven until brown.
- Before baking, add coconut to top of egg whites.
