Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. quick oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. pecans, chopped
  • 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugars.
  • Add eggs and beat.
  • Add flour, oatmeal, salt and vanilla and mix.
  • In small cup, mix boiling water with baking soda, then add to dough and mix in.
  • Lastly, add nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake in oven preheated to 350°.
