Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 heaping tbsp. flour
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Brown 1/2 cup sugar in a heavy skillet.
- Beat egg yolks slightly then combine with one cup sugar, milk and flour.
- Add the egg-milk mixture to the caramelized sugar very slowly.
- Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- The mixture will thicken as it cooks.
- Add butter and vanilla.
- Pour into a 9 inch baked pie shell.
- Top with meringue.
