- 8 slices bacon
- 4 medium onions, chopped
- 1 (1 lb.) can green beans
- 1 (1 lb.) can white lima or butter beans
- 1 (1 lb.) can kidney beans
- 1 (1 lb.) can pork and beans
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
- pepper to taste
Method
- Fry bacon until crisp.
- Remove bacon drippings; drain and crumble bacon.
- Saute onion in bacon drippings until it is transparent.
- Thoroughly drain onion.
- Drain green beans and lima beans.
- Combine green beans, lima beans, pork and beans, kidney beans and their liquid, onion and bacon.
- Combine brown sugar, vinegar, garlic salt, mustard and pepper.
- Add to bean mixture and mix well.
- Bake, uncovered, in 3-quart casserole or 2 smaller casseroles in oven preheated to 350° for 1 hour.
- Serves 16.
