Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 4 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 (1 lb.) can green beans
  • 1 (1 lb.) can white lima or butter beans
  • 1 (1 lb.) can kidney beans
  • 1 (1 lb.) can pork and beans
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • pepper to taste

Method

  • Fry bacon until crisp.
  • Remove bacon drippings; drain and crumble bacon.
  • Saute onion in bacon drippings until it is transparent.
  • Thoroughly drain onion.
  • Drain green beans and lima beans.
  • Combine green beans, lima beans, pork and beans, kidney beans and their liquid, onion and bacon.
  • Combine brown sugar, vinegar, garlic salt, mustard and pepper.
  • Add to bean mixture and mix well.
  • Bake, uncovered, in 3-quart casserole or 2 smaller casseroles in oven preheated to 350° for 1 hour.
  • Serves 16.
