Ingredients

  • dry pinto beans
  • 2 lb. hamburger
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large bell pepper
  • 5 or 6 cloves garlic
  • salt (Lawry's is best)
  • black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground comino
  • crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 bunch fresh cilantro
  • 1 can Ro-Tel tomatoes

Method

  • Sort and wash pinto beans.
  • Cover with water.
  • Bring to a boil; turn off heat.
  • Let soak 1 hour.
  • Add hamburger meat (raw) to beans; cook over medium heat.
  • Add all other seasonings to taste.
  • Cook until beans are soft.
  • Serve with sliced onions and cornbread.
