Ingredients

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 12 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 12 cups flour
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup black walnut, chopped
  • granulated sugar, for dipping

Method

  • Cream sugar and shortening until light.
  • Add egg and vanilla; beat.
  • Add dry ingredients and nuts; mix.
  • Dip fingers in sugar, then make a small ball (size of a walnut).
  • Dip in sugar, and press down onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 12- 15 minutes at 375 degrees F.
