Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 4 to 6 bananas

Method

  • In a bowl, combine sugar and flour.
  • Add milk to slightly beaten egg yolks, then combine flour mixture and milk mixture. Cook in top of double boiler until the thickness of custard.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Line baking dish with wafers.
  • Slice bananas over wafers.
  • Pour 1/2 custard over bananas and wafers.
  • Repeat process again.
  • Beat egg whites with 6 tablespoons sugar.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff.
  • Pour on top of pudding.
  • Bake at 425° for 5 minutes, or until top is slightly browned.
