Ingredients

  • 1 cane sugar cube
  • 2 dashes orange Curacao
  • 1 grapefruit peel
  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • 1 large ice cube

Method

  • In the bottom of a double old fashioned glass douse the sugar cube with Curacao. Give it a good whack to break it apart.
  • Muddle the grapefruit peel-peel side down-into the sugar. Do this for a minute or two to release the oils. The sugar should be syrupy by the time you're finished.
  • Add the whiskey and a large ice cube and stir using a cocktail stirrer: 30 spins in one direction then 30 spins in the opposite direction.
  • Serve in glass.
