Ingredients
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/3 tsp. salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. shortening
Method
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add to buttermilk; stir well.
- Add to flour mixture; mix until blended.
- Knead for 1 minute or until smooth. Roll in 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut and place on ungreased pan.
- Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
- This dough may be stored in bulk for 3 or 4 days in the refrigerator.
- It is also good for cinnamon rolls. Makes 20 to 25 servings.
