- 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
- 1 whole Small Yellow Onion, Chopped
- 1/4 cups Milk
- 1 cup Bread Crumbs (not Panko)
- 3/4 cups Tomato Sauce, Unflavored, Divided
- 4 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce, Divided
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 8 ounces, weight Ground Breakfast Sausage
- 1 whole Egg
- 1 teaspoon Montreal (or Other) Steak Seasoning, Or To Taste
- 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
Method
- 1.
- Saute onion in oil until tender.
- Transfer to large bowl.
- 2.
- Combine milk and bread crumbs in small bowl.
- Set aside.
- 3.
- Combine 1/4c tomato sauce and 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce in another small bowl.
- Set aside.
- 4.
- Add ground beef, sausage, remaining tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce, egg, seasoning mix, garlic powder and breadcrumb mixture into the onion bowl.
- Mix until just incorporated.
- 5.
- Mount mixture into a 9x5x3 loaf pan.
- Bake 45 minutes.
- 6.
- Remove from oven and pour off some fat.
- 7.
- Spread set aside tomato mixture on top.
- 8.
- Bake until internal temperature is 160 degrees (about 30 more minutes).
- 9.
- Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
- ** if you arent watching your sugar intake, you can substitute prepared ketchup for canned tomato sauce.
