Ingredients
- 1/4 oz active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup minced fresh basil
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp fresh tomato paste (pureed tomatoes)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cup or 2 3/4 of bread flour
Method
- In a large bowl dissolve the yeast in the water.
- Then add all of the ingredients and 2 cups of flour, mix well.
- Add some more flour to form a stiff dough.
- Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 4 minutes until you get an elastic dough.
- Grease a large bowl and place the dough in it and turn it to grease all the dough so it doesnt dry out.
- Cover the bowl and place on a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down dough and knead for about 1 minute.
- Place on a lightly greased baking sheet in your desired shape and let rise until doubled or an hour.
- With a very sharp knife, cut an X in the middle if you made it round.
- Bake in an oven at 375F for 35-40 minutes or until brown (dont over cook).
- Let chill for a few minutes or use hot.
- Perfect for a delicious capresse sandwich.
