Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. white flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 pkg. hot cocoa mix (about 1/2 c. cocoa)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp. white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. chocolate chips (optional)

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Spray two 8-inch pans or 1 large pan. Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
  • Pour in the water, oil, vanilla and vinegar and stir until well combined.
  • Add chocolate chips.
  • Pour into the prepared pans and bake 30 minutes or until done.
  • Cake can be iced or sprinkled with powdered sugar.
