- 1/2 c. margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 2 sq. chocolate, melted
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. boiling water
Method
- Have margarine and eggs at room temperature.
- Cream margarine and sugar together.
- Add melted chocolate.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
- Add cold water and vanilla; mix well again.
- The batter may curdle slightly at this point, but it does no harm.
- Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the boiling water.
- Batter will be very thin.
- Pour into a greased 8 x 11-inch pan.
- Bake for about 35 minutes at 350°.
