Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (only if seeds are not salted)
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 c. quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1/2 c. sunflower seeds

Method

  • Blend first 3 ingredients well and add egg and vanilla.
  • Then add flour, salt, soda and oats.
  • When mixed well, add seeds, folding in carefully.
  • Chill a bit, then drop onto cookie sheet. Gently flatten out a bit with fingertips.
  • Bake at 350° for about ten minutes or until light brown.
  • Makes about 6 dozen.
