Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped green onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground meat
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 3 very ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped or 1 can tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 pita pockets
  • cheese slices

Method

  • Saute garlic, celery, green onion and green pepper in oil and margarine. Add ground meat; cook and stir until meat is browned. Drain. Add raisins, tomatoes and oregano. Cook until thick; season with salt and pepper. Stuff pita pockets and put slice of cheese on top. Broil until cheese is melted.
