- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- 1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
- 1/2 c. chopped green onion
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 1/4 c. oil
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1/2 lb. lean ground meat
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 3 very ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped or 1 can tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- salt and pepper
- 4 pita pockets
- cheese slices
Method
- Saute garlic, celery, green onion and green pepper in oil and margarine. Add ground meat; cook and stir until meat is browned. Drain. Add raisins, tomatoes and oregano. Cook until thick; season with salt and pepper. Stuff pita pockets and put slice of cheese on top. Broil until cheese is melted.
