Ingredients

  • 2 lb. butternut or acorn squash (about 2 small)
  • 1/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mace
  • 1 Tbsp. plain all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. cooking apples, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Cut each squash in half lengthwise.
  • Remove seeds.
  • Peel and cut into 1/2-inch slices.
  • Arrange in a lightly greased 8 x 12 x 2-inch baking dish. Top with apple slices.
  • Combine remaining ingredients, mixing well. Spoon over apple slices.
  • Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until squash is tender. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
