Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 6 egg yolks, well beaten
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 6 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring

Method

  • Cream sugar and shortening; beat in egg yolks.
  • Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with sour cream.
  • Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Beat vigorously; add flavoring.
  • Pour into 10-inch tube pan, greased and sprinkled with white sugar.
  • Bake in 300° oven for 1 1/2 hours.
