Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak
  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Method

  • Cut meat in thin strips, trim excess fat.
  • Brown meat and mushrooms in butter.
  • Add onions; combine soup and tomato paste. Add seasonings.
  • Add this to meat mixture.
  • Cover and simmer for about 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  • Just before serving, stir in sour cream and thicken gravy, if desired.
  • Serve in ring of fluffy rice or over noodles.
  • Serves 8 to 10.
