Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. shortening
  • 1/2 c. water
  • shortening for frying

Method

  • Sift all dry ingredients together.
  • Work in shortening and lukewarm water to make a soft dough.
  • Chill in refrigerator.
  • Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Cut into 2 inch squares.
  • Deep fry in hot shortening at 400° a few at a time.
  • Brown on each side and drain on paper towel.
  • Serve hot. To eat, break open and pour in honey or use honey butter.
