Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. cold butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. milk

Method

  • Combine first six ingredients. Cut in butter till crumbly. Combine egg and milk, stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. Knead 10-15 times on floured surface. Roll out one inch thick for 2 1/2 inch cutter, greased pan. Bake 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes one dozen. Can be used as a base for creamed turkey, chicken or sausage gravy.
