Ingredients

  • 1 lb. butter (let stand overnight at room temperature)
  • 1 c. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 3 c. sifted flour

Method

  • Preheat oven to 300°.
  • Cream butter until light and fluffy. Blend in sugar and beat well.
  • Add cornstarch and blend.
  • Then add flour a little at a time until blended.
  • Pat dough into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Prick well with a fork.
  • Can be sprinkled with colored sugar, if desired.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until set.
  • Turn off oven.
  • Cut into squares with sharp knife.
  • Return to oven for 15 minutes to dry edges.
  • Remove from pan when cool.
  • Dough may be rolled into 1-inch balls and flattened.
  • Bake until done.
