Ingredients

  • 1 lb. mild Italian sausage, cut into 1 inch links
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled and quartered
  • 1 can sauerkraut, undrained (I use Del Monte)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. caraway seeds

Method

  • In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender, drain.
  • Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seeds.
  • Transfer to a 2 1/2 qt. baking dish.
  • Cover and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
  • Garnish with parsley, if desired.
  • Make 6 to 8 servings.
