Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 c. ground almonds (ground walnuts may be substituted)
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg gradually.
  • Stir in almonds and flour.
  • Wrap in plastic and let rest in refrigerator for one hour.
  • Remove from refrigerator and roll out into long cylinder, about 2 inches in diameter.
  • Cut in 1/8-inch slices.
  • Press out with a fork.
  • Lay on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned around edges.
  • Makes about 5 dozen.
