Ingredients
- 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. ground almonds (ground walnuts may be substituted)
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg gradually.
- Stir in almonds and flour.
- Wrap in plastic and let rest in refrigerator for one hour.
- Remove from refrigerator and roll out into long cylinder, about 2 inches in diameter.
- Cut in 1/8-inch slices.
- Press out with a fork.
- Lay on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned around edges.
- Makes about 5 dozen.
