Ingredients

  • 4 c. sugar
  • 4 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 1/4 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
  • 4 lb. small cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 6 small onions, thinly sliced

Method

  • Combine sugar, vinegar, salt, turmeric, celery seed and mustard seed in large jar.
  • Shake, covered, until sugar and salt are dissolved.
  • Pack cucumber slices and onion slices into sterilized jars.
  • Add vinegar mixture.
  • Chill in refrigerator for 5 days before serving.
  • Store in refrigerator.
  • Yield:
  • 20 servings.
