Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 18 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 2 Tbs. slivered almonds
  • 3 ripe medium Bartlett pears, cored and halved

Method

  • Combine all ingredients except pears in microwave-safe 2-cup measure or bowl.
  • Microwave on high power until slightly thickened, 1 1/2 to 3 minutes; stir twice during cooking.
  • Place pears cut side up in round baking dish, with large end of pears toward outside of dish.
  • Pour sauce over pears.
  • Microwave on high 5 1/2 to 6 minutes or until pears are tender.
  • Serve warm.
