Ingredients
- 1 cake or pkg. yeast
- 1 c. potato water
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 2/3 c. shortening, melted
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 6 to 7 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
Method
- Mix the first 3 ingredients; let rise 1 hour, then mix the milk, shortening, sugar and eggs.
- Sift the flour with the salt. Add to first mixture; knead well.
- Raise to double in size.
- Roll out; cut with doughnut cutter.
- Fry in hot fat.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar or make a glaze.
- Yields 3 dozen.
