Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. and 2 tsp. sugar, divided
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 8 c. peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 c. water
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
Method
- In a saucepan, mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and water.
- Stir until smooth.
- Add peaches.
- Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
- Cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
- Pour into a lightly greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish.
- Set aside.
