Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean pork, cut into small pieces
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 to 7 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 can drained mushrooms or fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 3/4 c. raw rice
  • 1 can consomme soup
  • 1 can water chestnuts, sliced
  • sliced almonds
  • 1 1/3 c. water (approximately)
  • 1/3 c. chopped onion
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Tabasco
  • 1 1/3 c. instant rice (uncooked)
  • 1 (15 oz.) can black-eyed peas, drained
  • 3 slices cooked bacon, crumbled or 3 Tbsp. real bacon bits

Method

  • Heat water, onion, salt and Tabasco to boiling.
  • Stir in rice. Cover and remove from heat.
  • Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Stir in black-eyed peas and bacon.
  • Heat to serving temperature and eat immediately.
