Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 egg whites
  • 4 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. mashed potatoes (left over creamed potatoes may be used)
  • 1 pkg. yeast or 1 yeast cake, softened in 1/4 c. water or potato water if available

Method

  • Scald milk, sugar, Crisco and cool.
  • Add potatoes, flour and egg whites.
  • Mix thoroughly and knead until well blended.
  • Put in covered bowl, lightly greased for several hours or overnight. Roll and cut like biscuits.
  • Dip in hot Crisco and fold over.
  • Let rise about 2 hours.
  • Bake at 350° about 30 minutes.
