Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 qts. popped corn

Method

  • Put sugar, syrup, butter, water and salt into saucepan and cook, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
  • Continue cooking, without stirring, until syrup forms a butter ball when dropped in cold water (245 degrees on candy thermometer). Add vanilla and stir only enough to mix (you may also add food coloring). Pour over popcorn.
  • Wet hands and form into balls.
