Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 0.5 tbsp salt
  • 1 8 g package active dry yeast (2.25 tsp)
  • 0.5 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.25 cups lukewarm water
  • coarse cornmeal

Method

  • Mix water, sugar and yeast. Wait 15 min for yeast to foam
  • Mix flour and salt in a large bowl (or n a table, making a well in the middle).
  • Add yeast mixture and oil and mix.
  • Knead until dough forms.
  • Lightly oil a bowl, put the dough in and cover with plastic wrap. Put in a warm room and allow to double in size (1-1.5 hours).
  • Put the pizza stone in the oven to warm up at least an hour before ready to put the pizza in. Oven should be hot 450-500 degrees.
  • When doubled, punch it down. Split the dough in two, form into rounds and cover each lightly to rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Shape the dough using your hands and/or a rolling pin very thin. When done, put cornmeal on a pizza slip, put the pizza crust on top and then add sauce, toppings and cheese.
  • Take the pizza stone out of the oven, put some cornmeal on and carefully slide the pizza from the slip onto the stone. Bake in the hot oven 8-15 minutes depending on the temperature.
