Ingredients

  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 6 pineapple rings
  • 2 egg yolks, well beaten
  • 2 egg whites, beaten stiff

Method

  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • Combine brown sugar and butter in an 8-inch frying pan or cake pan.
  • Stir over low heat until thoroughly mixed.
  • Arrange fruit in this mixture. Stir sugar slowly into beaten egg yolks and add hot water slowly. Beat well.
  • Add vanilla and sifted dry ingredients, mixing well. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
