Ingredients
- 4 qt. sliced cucumbers
- 9 small onions
- 2 green peppers
- 1/2 c. salt
- 1 pt. cider vinegar
- 4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp. mustard seed
- 1 tsp. mixed pickling spice
Method
- Slice cucumbers, onions and peppers.
- Place in large crock. Sprinkle salt over vegetables and cover with water.
- Soak in crock overnight.
- Drain. Combine vinegar, sugar, celery seed, turmeric powder, mustard seed and spice in a large kettle.
- Bring to a boil.
- Put drained vegetables in syrup and cook 20 minutes. Pack into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
