Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak (3/4 inch thick)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. catsup
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 3 onions, cut in rings
  • 3 green peppers
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms

Method

  • Cut steak into strips about 1/2 inch wide by 3 or 4 inches long.
  • Brown steak in butter.
  • Remove from pan; add flour to pan. Add more butter if necessary to dissolve.
  • Add catsup.
  • Dissolve bouillon cube in one cup of hot water.
  • Add catsup and soy sauce to pan.
  • Stir until slightly thickened.
  • Add browned meat, onions and enough water to cover meat.
  • Cook 1 hour.
  • Add sliced peppers. Cook until tender.
  • Add mushrooms.
  • If sauce is too thin, thicken with cornstarch dissolved in water.
  • Serve with rice, noodles or mashed potatoes.
