Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 medium fresh Bartlett pear, coarsely chopped (1 1/2 c.)
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. each: baking soda and salt
  • granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cream butter with brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in remaining ingredients, until just combined.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • Bake in 350° oven for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
