Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. quick cooking oats
  • 2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and peanut butter.
  • Add brown sugar, eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  • Combine oats, flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Flatten with fork.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until done.
  • Makes 6 dozen.
