Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine (soft)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. raw shelled peanuts
Method
- In a heavy, medium saucepan over medium heat, heat to boiling sugar, corn syrup, salt and water, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
- Stir in peanuts.
- Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until mixture reaches 300° on
- a candy thermometer or until a small amount of mixture dropped in cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in butter or margarine and baking soda.
- Immediately pour into greased cookie sheet.
- Cool.
- Snap candy into small pieces. Store in tightly covered container.
